DAY 2 TOLEDO
Hola España! You’ll arrive in Madrid and take a short bus ride to the old capital of Toledo, a wonderfully traditional introduction to this vibrant country. You’ll have time to unwind in your hotel and enjoy a relaxing dinner before exploring the city tomorrow.

DAY 3 TOLEDO
Highlights of this fascinating town include the Church of Santo Tomé, the Gothic Cathedral, and the medieval Synagogue. You’ll have free time in the afternoon to shop for swords – a specialty of the area – and see first-hand how they’re made, check out Toledo Damascene ware, or relax in a café in the Plaza and simply soak up the passing scene.

DAY 4 SALAMANCA
Visit the amazingly wellpreserved walled city of Avila, one of the most beautiful in Europe and home of St Teresa. Visit her shrine before continuing your journey to Salamanca, a lively city with one of Spain’s leading universities – and one of the oldest in the world.

DAY 5 SALAMANCA
Explore this fascinating city on foot, including the university, with its elaborately decorated façade (try to spot the frog on the skull!). You'll also see the aptly named Casa de las Conchas and the Plaza Mayor, one of the most beautiful squares in Spain. ECI Experience Extra of your choice.

DAY 6 MADRID
Enjoy a day trip to the quaint town of La Alberca; with its halftimbered buildings and picturesque town square, it’s like stepping back in time. Later, experience the countryside on horseback, before returning to Salamanca for the evening.

DAY 7 MADRID
Today’s excursion takes in Segovia, where you will see the Alcázar, high above the town like a fairy-tale castle, and the first-century aqueduct, which still carries water to the city today. Then on to El Escorial to visit the magnificent palace monastery and Valley of the Fallen, which commemorates the million people who died in the Spanish Civil War. Evening arrival in Madrid.

DAY 8 MADRID
In the morning enjoy the highlights of Madrid from a hop-on/hop-off bus, including Don Quixote’s statue in the Plaza de España, the Plaza Colon, and the Royal Palace. You’ll have free time in the afternoon for shopping, strolling along the Gran Via or visiting the Reina Sofia Art Museum, where you can learn about Picasso’s Guernica, his moving reminder of Spain’s suffering during its civil war. Evening ECI Experience Extra of your choice.

DAY 9 MADRID
Today visit the worldrenowned art collection in the Prado, where you will see the works of Spanish masters Goya, Velázquez, and El Greco, among others. To get a real sense of the city, take a stroll in Madrid’s most popular park, Retiro Park, followed by a walking tour of the historic center including the Plaza Mayor. Evening ECI Experience Extra of your choice.
