DAY 1 DEPART
Departure from the US. Arrive in Belize on the beautiful island of South Water Caye, a Caribbean paradise surrounded by mangroves and coral reefs.

DAY 2 SOUTH WATER CAYE
Enjoy snorkeling in the island’s crystal-clear waters to experience first-hand the area’s rich variety of sea life. Later, learn more about the area with a beachcomber’s scavenger hunt. A lecture on the ecology and identification of the fish of the area completes the picture.

DAY 3 SOUTH WATER CAYE
After a morning snorkeling you’ll visit the Smithsonian Research Station on Carrie Bow Caye to learn more about the marine environment of Belize. Research scientists from all over the world use this station. Later, listen to a lecture on Mangrove Ecology.

DAY 4 RIO BRAVO STATION
Today you’ll visit Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center – Central America’s finest zoo and home to over 100 animals native to Belize. You’ll then transfer to the Rio Bravo Research Station, a conservation area of subtropical forest. Enjoy a night hike in the area: you may see some of the local wildlife, including howler and spider monkeys, over 80 species of bats, or one of the five big cats of Belize: puma, jaguar, margay, jaguarundi, and ocelot.

DAY 5 RIO BRAVO STATION
After an early-morning excursion into the rainforest, you’ll tour the La Milpa archaeological site, home to important Mayan remains including pyramids, some of which are over 70 feet tall. Later, enjoy a lecture on the flora and fauna of Belize.

DAY 6 RIO BRAVO STATION
Today learn all about the rainforest, with a rainforest levels identification lecture, a talk on rainforest ecology and a night-time hike.

DAY 7 LAMANAI FIELD RESEARCH CENTER
Today you will transfer to the Lamanai Field Research Center, an important archaeological center for the Lamanai ruins, overlooking the New River Lagoon. Here you will tour the site and museum, and enjoy a guided walk identifying the indigenous medicinal plants. In the evening enjoy a safari in the New River Lagoon, with the chance to spot some of the local wildlife.

DAY 8 LAMANAI FIELD RESEARCH CENTER
You’ll have the opportunity to meet the local people in a friendly and informal environment, courtesy of the Indian Church Village Community Project. Later that evening enjoy a meal with local families.

DAY 9 LAMANAI FIELD RESEARCH CENTER
A field excursion to learn about Ancient Mayan farming and the chance to practice some Ancient Mayan cooking techniques concludes this unforgettable experience. A farewell dinner in the evening lets you say goodbye to Belize in style.

DAY 10 HOME
Depart for the US.
